I had a great time last night selling jewelry at Chillin’ Productions Anniversary event at the Mezzanine. The place was packed with artists and shoppers alike and had a super fun party vibe with DJs and live painters doing their thing on stage.
It was my first craft show, so I was excited to show off the jewelry displays that’d I’d been working hard on in preparation for the show. I sourced many of my display items from a handful of thrift stores in the Mission. I repurposed two wooden utensil organizers into trays to display my brand new enamel necklaces (coming soon to my shop). I also found that mesh office organizers work fantastic as earring holders. I pulled it all together with a couple of super cool wire trees that I bought from an artist selling them on the street back when I lived in Santiago, Chile. They’re a tad hard to see in the photo since they blend into the background.
Lighting was something I decided to add last minute, and I’m so glad I did. The space was super dark, so I would have been in a heap of hurt without out the little lamps I added. I was also lucky to be placed next to a fellow jeweler, Valerie Preston of Valerie Preston Design who had an amazingly well-lit display to show-off her lovely dream-catcher inspired jewelry. So that, plus my little lamps allowed my jewelry to be seen.
I had a great time at this show and hope to participate in more in the near future. Stay tuned for new dates.
