These sleek enamel stud earrings feature a lovely long shape with a horizontal line pattern. The pattern was made using the sgraffito technique, where the pattern is scratched through the enamel, providing a lovely contrast between the enameled copper below and the black enamel.

First the design for these earrings was sketched out and then the shapes were hand-cut out of copper sheet metal and sterling silver posts were then soldered on the backs of the irregular circles. Next they were ready to be enameled, first with a layer of clear enamel, followed by a layer of lovely black enamel over half of all the pieces. Then the lines were scratched out of the black enamel allowing the copper beneath to show through before kiln-firing them again to achieve the smooth finish. They are finished with dark gray enamel on the back sides.
