These gorgeous dangle stud enamel earrings are sure to make a statement. They feature a diagonal crisscross pattern that was made using the sgraffito technique, where the crisscross pattern is scratched through the enamel, providing a lovely contrast between the enameled copper below and the black enamel.

First the design for these earrings was sketched out and then the shapes were hand-cut out of copper sheet metal and holes were drilled in them. Sterling silver posts were then soldered on the backs of the irregular circles. Next they were ready to be enameled, first with a layer of clear enamel, followed by a layer of lovely black enamel over half of all the pieces. Then the crisscross pattern was scratched out of the black enamel allowing the copper beneath to show through before kiln-firing them again to achieve the smooth finish. The two pieces were attached using an oxidized sterling silver jump ring that allows for movement of the bottom part. They are finished with black enamel on the back sides.
