DAY 4 - Geometric Pattern Earrings - Black & Copper

120.00

These earrings were made as part of a creative challenge to make a new piece of jewelry everyday for 100 days. These were made on day 4 of the challenge. In making these I explored sgraffito enamel technique, where you scratch a hand-drawn pattern in the enamel. I first drew and then hand-cut the irregular geometric shape out of copper sheet metal and then kiln-fired a layer of clear enamel on both sides. Then I painted a layer of lovely deep black overglaze over the front sides and scratched out a triangular pattern by hand allowing the copper beneath to show through. They are completed with sterling silver ear wires and have a clear enamel on the back with a few specks of black.

LENGTH - 2 1/4" (1/2" ear wire + 1 3/4" enamel)
WIDTH - 7/8" (at widest part)
